Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V

Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 is a library to convert MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) documents into PDF, SVG, or JPEG/PNG/TIFF（JPEG/PNG/TIFF is only available for the Windows version) files and PDF files into SVG or JPEG/PNG/TIFF（JPEG/PNG/TIFF is only available for the Windows version) files on the server side. By using the Server Based Converter in the groupware or the Web-mail system where the environment can display PDF or SVG, MS Office documents can be displayed even in those environments where MS Office is not installed nor operated.

Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 now offers the ability to input MS Word 2010 / MS Excel 2010 / MS PowerPoint 2010 files. The Plus version allows you to input CGM, and output XPS, INX, and SWF files.

Note:Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 formats MS Office documents and produces the requested output with its own rendering engine, so the converted pages may not look exactly the same as the original MS Office document. The current release of the Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 does not support all formatting aspects of MS Office and thus the output results might be unsatisfactory. Please keep in mind when using Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0, as Antenna House works to improve the compatibility with MS Office as much as possible.

Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 provides the following features:

MS Office document conversion to PDF on a server
An unlimited number of users can now convert MS Office documents to PDF on a web server by utilizing the PDF direct creation engine developed by Antenna House (can also be used as part of an ASP service).
MS Office document and PDF conversion to SVG
The SVG conversion not only supports SVG 1.1 but also supports the conversion into SVG Basic/SVG Tiny thus enabling the sending of MS Office documents and PDF files to devices such as mobile terminals and cellular phones.
Conversion of documents to JPEG/PNG/TIFF
MS Office documents and PDF documents can be converted into JPEG/PNG/TIFF images (available only with the Windows version). The conversion of only the first page of a document allows users to make a thumbnail easily.
High speed conversion
Antenna House's Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 is faster than other products with similar functionality and does not require installation of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Distiller because all reading of files and conversions are done with Server Based Converter. Users can operate it without worrying about those licensing agreements.
Integration Interfaces
Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 provides Command-line, .NET, COM, Java and C/C++ interfaces. (.NET and COM interfaces are available only for Windows.) All interfaces support streaming input/output which makes for easy system integration.
Direct Printer output
The Windows version also supports the ability to send the converted results directly to any Windows based printer without the need to first create a PDF document.
Conversion of password protected files
MS Office 2007-2010 and PDF files with open passwords can be converted into PDF.
Conversion of Excel files per sheet
Specific information can be easily converted by selecting the sheet number in the Excel file.

Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 for Solaris is currently designed to operate in a 32 bit environment.
Please see "Font Setting" for supported fonts. In addition, fonts are not included in the Windows version. In non-Windows version, Standard 14 Fonts (Type 1 fonts), are only included.
Standard 14 Fonts in non-Windows version have the metrics information file only. They do not contain the file of the outline information. If you want to embed these fonts to PDF or PS file, please prepare whole fonts by yourself.
Please confirm the necessary environment variables at "Environment Variable" in this manual.
Please confirm the installed modules at "Installed Modules" in this manual.
The printing function on the Windows version depends on Windows-based printer drivers.

libstdc++.so in Linux

In the Linux environment, Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 is built using GCC 3.4.X version. The binary program generated from this version explicitly links libstdc++.so.6 as the runtime-library. Similarly in the Linux 64bit environment, Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 is built using GCC 3.4.X version. The binary program generated from this version explicitly links libstdc++.so.6 as the runtime-library. If your Linux environment does not include libstdc++.so.6, you should get it from your distributor.

About Evaluation Version

Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 Evaluation version has the following restrictions which are removed with the purchase of a formal license:

The URL of Antenna House website is shown at the bottom of all pages.
The watermark image, "Evaluation Version", is placed on each page.
The weight of the font may look changed a little and the color of the image may look different a little with the watermark. There is cause in Adobe Acrobat or Reader for this problem. In addition, the printing speed decreases for the amount of the watermark.
PDF1.3 cannot be output with the evaluation version. PDF 1.4 is output.
The function of INX output is effective. INX output has the following restrictions.
- Only the first one page can be outputted.
The function of XPS output is effective. XPS output has the following restrictions.
- Only the first one page can be outputted.
The function of Flash output is effective. Flash output has the following restrictions.
- Only the first one page can be outputted.
The function of CGM drawing by utilizing our direct creation module is effective.
The function of multi-page TIFF Input/Output.
The evaluation copy expires after 30 days.
Use of the evaluation version for live production or commercial purposes is expressly prohibited.
Removal of the watermark and/or our website URL at the bottom of the page in the evaluation version is prohibited.

There are no restrictions on formatting functions except for the above mentioned. However, the optional features that are not explicitly stated above are invalid.

Maintenance Service Key

With the purchase of a formal license, or when the program is upgraded during the maintenance contract period, Antenna House will provide the customer with a Maintenance Service Key which is used to activate and authenticate the Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V4.0 and remove the above restrictions.
