Flash Output

Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V3.0 can output to an Adobe Flash File. Clicking the button displayed under the outputted SWF text allows navigation to the previous/next page.

The current Flash output function is an beta version feature. It's inclusion in this release is for evaluation purposes and not intended for other use.

SWF (Adobe Flash) is a standard vector graphic file format developed by Adobe Systems Inc. SWF files can be controlled by scripting and are widely used for creating interactive websites. Rainbow PDF Server Based Converter V3.0 is capable of converting both PDF and Microsoft Office documents into Adobe Flash format with SWF file extensions so they may be edited, combined and reused in "Flash" presentations.

The following fonts are available to output: Please refer to Fonts for details.

• TrueType font
• OpenType font (TrueType outline)
• OpenType font (PostScript outline)

• Non embeddable fonts are restricted.
• Flash output does not support complex script language such as Hebrew, Arabic, Thai.
• EUDC (End User Defined Character) is not supported.
• dash and gap in border style cannot be selected due to SWF specifications. Dotted lines are converted into solid lines.
• When a glyph is filled with linear shading, the glyph is always colored black due to SWF specifications.
• Objects that exceeds 65535 (pass, glyph and image, etc.) cannot be outputted due to SWF specifications. An error message "(43): Objects are too many to output." will appear and the Flash file will not output.
• Images other than JPEG/PNG/GIF are converted into the Flash proprietary format (array of the pixel value of RGB) and outputted to Flash.
• Color spaces other than RGB are converted into RGB color space. Color space conversion is calculated using a simple method that doesn't use the color profile. Therefore the converted color may differ from the original.
• Penetration information is disregarded and transparent images are outputted as non-transparent images when the original document is other than PNG or GIF.
• When the coordinate value of a figure falls outside the tolerance level of the SWF specification and it cannot be adjusted to fall within the proper range, an error message "(4): SWF specification error" will appear and the conversion stops.
• Vertical writing mode is not supported.
• Because the original document's first page size determines the size of the Flash frame, when the page size changes within the document some descrepancies may occur. e.g. only a part of the page is displayed, etc.
• Because the size of the button to change pages is fixed, the button looks large if the page size is small.
• When the original document includes a table with a lot of cells, an error message "(42): Nests in canvas are too many to output." will appear and the conversion stops.

Errors with Flash output will be generated as follows:

16410 (401A): Flash output error (##): XXXXX
18179 (4703): Flash output error (##): XXXXX

(##) indicates the subcode, XXXXX indicates the error message. The following table provides the details of the error messages.
